We are hiring: Head of Commercial

As part of our ongoing growth, Castle Dairies are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Commercial to lead our Sales, Brand, Marketing and NPD functions. The role will sit on the Senior Leadership team and report directly to the CEO.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Commercial Strategy: Develop and execute the overarching commercial strategy, aligning with business goals and market opportunities to drive profitable growth.
  • Sales Leadership: Own and lead the sales function, provide strategic direction, foster key relationships with retail partners and explore new distribution channels to expand market share including export and B2B.
  • New Product Development (NPD): Oversee the NPD function, guiding product development from concept through to launch and ensuring a pipeline of innovative products that align with consumer trends and brand vision.
  • Brand Management: Lead brand strategy and development, positioning our brand to maximise brand value and market share
  • Market Analysis: : Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities and mitigate potential risks. Use Category data to support strategic direction
  • Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and develop the Commercial team, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and professional growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Finance, Technical, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment and efficiency across all commercial activities.
We’re looking for a confident leader who is adaptable and values driven.  Who also holds key experience and skills:

Essential

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior commercial or sales role within the food/drink manufacturing sector.
  • Leadership skills: Proven track record of successfully managing teams across Sales, NPD, and Brand functions.
  • Strategic Vision: Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable commercial plans.
  • NPD Expertise: Familiarity with the end-to-end NPD process, from ideation through to launch, and a keen understanding of what drives successful product innovation.
  • Sales Acumen: Demonstrated success in growing revenue and securing major retail partnerships in a competitive market.
  • Brand Savvy: Experience in brand strategy and development, with a clear understanding of how to build and position a brand within the marketplace.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis, with the ability to derive actionable insights from market trends and financial reports.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing key stakeholders and representing the company externally.

Desirable

  • Education: Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field
  • Professional Certification: Sales, Marketing or supply chain would be advantageous.
